clamp-on-desk-cup-holder-for-stanley-yeti-tumblers
Clamp on desk cup holder for Stanley/Yeti tumblers

I made a cup holder for the larger style tumblers that clamps on the edge of a desk.

I have seen other cup holders for these larger mugs but, they are permanently attached to the desk via screws. That is not an option for when I am at work so this is the end result.

It is made to clamp to a thicker desk but, it can be tightened down to fit thinner desks as well. I made the hole in the bottom so my larger 42 oz. Yeti tumbler would fit down inside a bit better with a lower change of getting bumped and knocked out.

This will also fit the larger Stanley, and Brumate cups as well. The smaller ones should also fit but, I do not have any to test.

I did use some of the furniture anti-slip pads on the underside of the top clamp arm to give it a better chance of staying put. You could use anything that you have on hand here to provide a better grip between the wood and plastic. I also have a live edge desk so the additional grip from something helps.

I also made a large opening in the bottom of this cup holder. That is to allow the cup to sit down lower to minimize the risk of me turning in my chair and hitting it.

NOTE:

It has been brought to my attention that there are not perfectly round edges on my model. I did this intentionally on the cup holder but they are present on the screw as well. The 3D model does not look as nice as I want it to but that should not take away from the other photos.

This is the first model that I created on my own to solve a real world problem that I have and I did it with TinkerCAD. It is not perfect and may evolve overtime as I learn but this is the start.

I have tested this model and it works. The screw does in fact screw in from the bottom of the cup holder as pictured. It also screws in from the top if for whatever reason you want to do that.

Regardless of the imperfections of the physical model and the 3D model, this does work! Please do not let the appearance deter you from trying this out if you could potentially use it.

If the edges bother you, Feel free to remix if and fix that. Please share that with me if you do, as I would like to see what you come up with.

Design by ShaneTalksTech on MakerWorld (license: BY).

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0987/0809/5280/files/0_6ef2d3b3-2278-497b-81e2-3e9010ec0f78.png?v=1784487229
