I ended up making my own model and made it parametric so that I later could print them in any size I want.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eStrengths of this model:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eParametric, to easily make it small for example\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eEasy to lock\/unlock (with no tools or hardware) when needed but stays put otherwise\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eIs compatible with regular spool holders and acts like a regular spool\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePrinting info:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ePrint both parts separately with tree supports for the hanging part of the locking mechanism.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eWatch out that the seams don't line up with the walls of the locking mechanism to avoid weak spots.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eOnce printed square up the locking parts with an exacto knife if needed and then simply line them together, press and finally twist to assemble the spool. After this the pieces will be locked together but you can still easily separate them whenever needed.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eWould you want to use one in a heated drybox, keep in mind the max temperature of the filament you used to print this spool!
