READ THESE INFORMATIONS BEFORE PRINTING!

Use transparent PETG for the lamp shade, rather than transparent PLA

All PETG filaments MUST be dried before use, for best results. After you open the plastic packaging, dry the PETG for 4-6 hours at 60-65 ºC.

I have tried multiple transparent PLA and PETG filaments and done a host of tests on each type, and the difference is very visible when both are at their best: Transparent PETG wins big time in transparency. Transparent PLA becomes a muddy translucent at best.

For transparent PETG, use the following settings, but beware these values may vary slightly with the filament you have:

Flow ratio: 1.03

This ensures a better layer adhesion and more invisible layers, with better transparency as the layer gaps are filled out. Some over extrusion may occur, but it should not be overly much.

Print at 255 ºC or whatever is the highest your filament is rated for.

Max volumetric speed at 10 mm3/s or lower.

In the “COOLING” tab, set the Part Cooling's Max Fan speed treshold to 10%

Any cooling fan will make the PETG lose its transparency gradually, but the problem is more evident at fan speeds over 15%. We need to be able to print overhangs that don't droop, so keeping it at 10% is a good compromize.

Also in the "COOLING" tag, set Auxiliary Fan speed to 0%.

------------------------------------------

FOR PEOPLE WHO DO NOT USE A BAMBU LABS PRINTER:

I have provided STL files

While you can slice the base pretty much as you like, I recommend the following for the faceted crystal lamp shade:

Enable “Spiral Vase” or “Vase mode” (in some slicers, this is called “Spiralize outer contour”).

Choose a large layer height at 0.28mm.

This is to create fewer layer lines. A more coarse z-resolution is not a drawback for this print.

Set outer wall to at least 0.6mm width.

This value is for 0.4mm nozzles. Depending on your nozzle's base, some 0.4mm nozzles can go as high as 0.8mm. However, 0.6mm layer width is the most that all 0.4mm nozzles can go, so consider this a “safe value”. This is to ensure sturdiness.

Use 3 bottom layers.

Speed for outer wall at max 20 mm/s and acceleration at maximum 7000 mm/s^2

Faster speeds will cause the transparency to gradually become more milky and translucent.

------------------------------------------------------

DISCLAIMER!

This is a remix of Crincle Lamp by LoboCNC:

Crinkle Lamp by LoboCNC - MakerWorld

His Crincle Lamp is in turn also a remix - of Voronoi Lamp by Markellov:

Voronoi lamp by Markellov - Thingiverse

I sized the lamp down, added some top and bottom and made some minor corrections - and a base to fit the LED Kit 001 as well as keep the lamp shade in place.

Design by jakobdam on MakerWorld (license: BY).

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0987/0809/5280/files/0_db0383c0-88e8-4634-9757-1316c8b8df2d.png?v=1784017928
