giant-brick-wreath-angle-stabilizer-clips
Giant Brick Wreath Angle Stabilizer Clips

I love building the giant brick wreaths (apparently we can't say OGEL anymore), but even when I used the available tools that people already made, I didn't care for how the wreath would sag when hanging up and/or just sitting on one edge. The angles of the branches would deform, and that made me very sad. I made these stabilizer clips that I could insert between the leaves, so that the angle of the branches would remain fixed, and that way the wreath stays round! Print them in the same color as your leaves, and they won't be noticeable.

The angle measurement relates to how the end of one leaf needs to sit relative to the nearest section of the next leaf. If you alternate leaves in and out like I did, then you'll need half of the clips printed one way, and the other half will need to be mirrored. I've already done this for you in the profiles I made here. They should work correctly if you assemble everything as I've done in the photos. The direction and orientation is specific because it has to allow for half the width of the leaf so that it all sits right. If you do top to bottom (or bottom to top) all the way around, then you'll need the clips to all be the same side, depending on which direction you're going.

I also included STLs in case you prefer to do your own print settings and/or experiment with orientation. Slim tree supports would use a little less filament if you're printing hundreds, for example. I kept a large number of shells because I wanted them as strong as possible.

FYI I use these brackets along with the locking studs by makewithjake here (it should be the first thing on his list) to keep everything tight and solid. That said, between that model and the giant wreath leaves, I had to make some adjustments (e.g. add a negative volume) to allow for a better fit. As for scale, my leaves are 20mm thick, 220mm long. Hopefully that helps. If not, here are my adjusted locking studs and my corrected leaves / branches. I stand on the shoulders of giants, but these remixes may get you a few steps closer to finished.

Thank you for your boosts, likes, and ratings!
