This can be accomplished by removing the three P3 screws.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWith the bottom removed the sharpening assembly can be lifted from the outer shell. It may be possible to remove the existing gear by only removing the motor section of the assembly.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHowever, I strongly recommend removing both sides from the centra assembly — the motor and the sharpener \/ shroud.
