You can use cherry, but I wouldn't recommend due to them having lower actuation force compared to kailh so the strum bar might sag under its own weight. In my case I used box navy switches, but jades are also a great option. You may or may not need a small spring underneath the strum bar, in my opinion it feels a lot better with one in.
