In other words make the trial rack and case very short. Test the fit with the battery or batteries in the rack. If the fit is bad, adjust the case either through OpenSCAD or your slicer.

Other recommandations :

it makes sense to print the sheath with transparent filament (see some of the photos on the original model)

if you print “rack” and “sheath" on the same plate, it's probably adviced to print with as sequence “per objects” and not “per layers”. Here is a timelapse of the CR2450 case printed on my Bambu Lab X1C :

Regarding prints : on my side, i printed several cases on a Bambu Lab X1C, with Textured PEI plate and PETG (with default Bambu Studio settings) :

0 issues (obviously) regarding the prints

0 issues on my side with the printed battery cases : everything fits perfectly with these values, and the racks are 100% staying well in place when loaded with some batteries, still without any difficulties to put them in place (no need to “force” anywhere). But, of course, your mileage may vary (depending on your settings, filaments, …), hence the need to do a small test with a “1x3” model.

History :

New in v2, per the author of that version : I added an optional bump near the back of the sheath so that the rack gets pinched and therefore does not slide out if tipped. The bump size is adjustable via the OpenSCAD source. There must be a battery in place for pinching to occur.

New in v3.0 :

Label on the sheath

No more “holes” at the bottom of the rack (extra height added)

Variables to have an easier way about enabling / disabling what need to be rendered

Rails on the sides of the sheath for the rack to be better kept in plaec

Correction of one bug regarding multi-columns sheath (the width was wrong in v2 : “thickness” was counted too many times, whereas there are overlaps)

A few extra examples of other battery cases

Extra comments in the source code for clarity / ease of modification in the future

Design by SRG1000 on MakerWorld (license: BY).

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0987/0809/5280/files/0_47c1af30-3285-42bb-9af9-afe30870f8e6.jpg?v=1784957749
