Storage Box for RAM (DIMM and SODIMM)
Update: Version 2 with improved hinge design available here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2727779-storage-box-for-ram-dimm-sodimm-v2
Hinged-lid box with friction latch for storing RAM sticks. Holds up to 15 DIMM sticks (7-8 if they have heatsinks) and 6 SODIMM (laptop) sticks. Provides 45mm of vertical space, which should be enough for all but the most outrageous heatsinks.
The RAM storage geometry is very similar to BM Paridae's model, except:
- I expanded the SODIMM horizontal retaining walls slightly so that older generation (slightly shorter) SODIMM sticks won't fall out, and
- I added 6mm of height to keep DIMM sticks without heatsinks from falling out of their slots if the box gets shaken.
The latch is strong enough to keep the box closed during handling and transportation, but will probably pop open if you drop it. So don't drop it.
A remix of this with only SODIMM module slots is available here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1878367-storage-box-for-laptop-ram-sodimm-only
And a DIMM-oonly version here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1975474-storage-box-for-desktop-ram-dimm-only
Lid Assembly
The top and bottom just snap together at the hinges. Carefully snap one hinge together in a slight rotating motion, then press the second hinge straight together. The second hinge will require a bit of careful force. (This illustrative picture shows a different model that uses the exact same hinge).
