Holiday Holder

I created this small, easy to print insert to make it easier to wind holiday string lights on empty filament spools. I call it the Holiday Holder! 

The tapered nature of the Holiday Holder makes it easy to feed in cables, wires, garland, string, and just about any other narrow object and “catch” them to hold in place while you wind the remainder around the spool. Simply store and pull out your well-wound holiday items next year to skip tangles and knots. 

Simply glue the Holiday Holder to an empty spool of filament (fits most 1kg spools, including Bambu lab, Overture, Elegoo, Kingroon, and more), wait for the glue to dry, and start organizing your lights! I recommend using super glue as your adhesive, as it can be difficult to bond lighter glues to the plastic most spools are made of. If you are having difficulty securing your Holiday Holder to your spool, I recommend scuffing up the surface of the spool where you want to mount your Holiday Helper, using more glue, or using a cardboard spool (which tends to bind to most glues better).

The print orientation can be a challenge if you have bed adhesion issues - I was able to print on a clean gold PEI sheet (the Bambu labs default for my A1) without an issue. If you are worried about bed adhesion, add a raft or supports. I have 4 Holiday Helpers in a batch for this, but if you have LOTS OF LIGHTS you can fit more than 30 on a single full size Bambu Lab build plate.
