NES Zapper Keychain - functional BB shooter toy
Functional BB shooter keychain toy based on the Nintendo Zapper Light Gun
Keychain toy modeled after the old Nintendo Zapper Light Gun for the NES. Uses a pen spring to shoot airsoft or 3d-printed BBs. Both original gray and later orange versions included.

Plates organized by color so you can print with minimal waste; no AMS needed. Once you print everything out, remove supports from the pieces that print with supports and add a pen spring or this spring from bambu:

You also need keychain parts:

As well as glue and an M3 screw (I used 8mm, but 6mm or even 10mm would work):
That should give you everything pictured below (if you want to go with the orange version instead of gray, just print the orange and black parts instead of the dark gray and red parts):

I would also recommend having an allen wrench handy to tighten the screw into the bolt.

To assemble, start by placing the spring into the barrel:

Then place the bolt, hole side down, into the barrel. Use an allen wrench to push the bolt into the spring until you can see the screw hole in the bolt:

Then start to screw the M3 screw into the hole on the bolt. Once it catches, use the allen wrench to tighten.

Now the barrel is ready and you are ready to start assembling the rest of the gun. Place the trigger on the peg of the right body part, and then place a thin layer of glue on both sides of the light gray body parts:

Place the barrel into the recess of the right body part; add more glue if needed and then attach the left body part:

Now you can attach the keychain to the handle:

Feed the ring through the hole in the bottom of the handle, feed the chain through that ring and close it with pliers:

Then add glue to the three holes above the trigger on the body, as well as to the three posts on the handle, and then attach the handle, lining up with posts with the holes and being careful to not get glue on the trigger:

Once the glue dries, you are ready to shoot! Pull the M3 screw back to cock the gun, place a BB into the barrel and then aim the gun at your target. Gun works with airsoft or printed BBs.

Once loaded, just flick your thumb up to hit the M3 screw and fire the BB (*the trigger on the gun isn't functional; it serves as essentially a fidget toy, as the attached spring pushes the trigger back into place after you squeeze it). Now go find some pixelated ducks to shoot at!

Enjoy!
Shooting range and Duck Hunt targets available here:
*Pen spring mechanism only has enough force to shoot BBs around 10 feet, but please be careful and avoid shooting at living targets. Remember, the game is called “Duck Hunt,” not “Brother Hunt” or “Sister Hunt” or “Pet Hunt”…..
