Silica / Alumina Desiccant Spool Dryer

This is a remix of PLAtonic Prints' Silica Dryer Spool Insert 2.0, which itself is a fantastic upgrade to the original design — adding screw-on access, an internal divider system for faster bead drying, and a fill funnel. All of that functionality is preserved here.

The one limitation of the original is that it was designed around Bambu spools, which only have small holes on the sides. Many alternative reusable spools, including those from Sunlu, Hobby Lobby, and similar brands, have gaps, slots, or oversized holes in the spool sides that allow desiccant to escape. This remix adds a cover plate that closes off those openings, keeping your desiccant contained and the insert working as intended.

Works with silica gel beads, activated alumina, and other common loose desiccants that would otherwise slip through the gaps in a reusable spool hub.

Two cover variants are included: one for use without the divider ring, and one designed to be used with it. NOTE: If you're using the divider version, note that the original divider ring has been slightly reduced in height to accommodate the cover, so be sure to print the modified divider included here rather than the one from the original listing.

The screws and funnel from the original are fully compatible and do not need to be reprinted.
