30th Anniversary PlayStation Portal Stand

My previous version of the PlayStation Portal Stand seemed pretty popular, so when I found out that PlayStation released a 30th anniversary edition of the PlayStation Portal, I figured it would be cool to have a 30th anniversary edition of the stand!

Once I designed and sliced the model, I realized that there are five total colors. Luckily I picked up a second AMS unit during the Black Friday sale, but I made a few options for those who may only have one AMS, or no AMS at all. Here are instructions for each situation:

2 AMS Units

If you have the ability to print 5 colors simultaneously, simply print the colored version of the “2AMS” file. I'm a little unfamiliar with how print profiles work, but if everything works right, there should be a plate named “2 AMS” or there's a “2AMS.stl” file for you to print yourself. All the colors print on the same layers, which does produce a little waste, but only 22 filament changes, so not terrible.

1 AMS Unit

If you have one AMS, I have created a version of this print that uses a maximum of four colors on one layer. Use the “1 AMS” plate or the “1AMS.stl” file. In the print profile, I have added a pause on the layer that prints the fifth color so that you can replace the filament in that slot.

If you do the painting yourself, remember to paint the “P” with a color you already used for the “S.” Then add a pause on the first layer of the “P” and swap colors into that slot. In the print profile I have provided, it uses the blue color slot.

No AMS Units

If you don't have an AMS Unit, no worries! I have provided a file/plate that facilitates printing one color at a time! In the provided print profile, I have added color changes on the layers that need it in order to get the colors right. If you do it yourself, use a layer height of 0.2mm and then add the following color changes:

  • Start with gray
  • Change to green on layer 2 (0.40 mm)
  • Change to yellow on layer 6 (1.20 mm)
  • Change to blue  on layer 11 (2.20 mm)
  • Change to red on layer 16 (3.20 mm)
  • Change to gray on layer 21 (4.20 mm)

Paint Option

By request of @PixelPrints, I added another print profile that just prints in one color and has a shallower logo. It also has raised lines between the colors to facilitate painting the logo instead of printing different colors. Thanks for the suggestion!
