AMS Plus is an extension device for the Bambu 3D printer's Automatic Material System (AMS) designed to support the automatic identification of third-party filaments.

 

Features of AMS Plus:

  • Non-intrusive design: AMS Plus uses wireless power supply without modifying the original structure.
  • Real-time display: Shows current filament information and the internal temperature and humidity of the AMS on the screen.
  • Third-party filament identification: Utilizes NTAG technology to write tags via a mobile application.

 

The firmware version has been updated to B2.0.5 

 

Some recent updates:

  • Added automatic application of flow calibration files. When creating a tag, you can now select a flow calibration ID to apply to third-party filament detection. This ID can be retrieved from the built-in AMS Plus web page.
  • Added support for multiple AMS units. You can now select the AMS ID during setup (though a few users have reported some issues with this feature).
  • OTA functionality has been added! You can now upload firmware locally over your LAN—no need to fetch it over the internet. You decide when to upgrade :)
  • You can now dynamically modify AMS Plus settings—like Wi-Fi info and printer connection parameters—through the built-in web page. No more having to use reset tags every time  XD
  • The user manual has been updated, including a section on the features of the built-in web page.

 

I created a solution to automatically identify third-party filaments using custom tags. I have open-sourced the principles and code. You can check out this video for more details.
