Ash Scoop for Smokers – Compact, High-Capacity, Easy-Control Design
I designed this ash scoop many years ago, and it’s been my go-to tool ever since for cleaning out the leftover ash and buildup inside my smoker. The compact profile makes it easy to reach into tight spaces, and the handle sits directly on top—not off to the side like other scoops that are frustrating to maneuver.
Even with the small footprint, the capacity is surprisingly large. It holds significantly more than a standard scoop, which means fewer trips in and out of the smoker and a faster, cleaner cleanup process.
I built this design to balance all the important factors: reach, leverage, capacity, and easy dumping straight into a trash bag. Regularly removing ash can help prevent ash blowing onto your food, avoid ignition issues caused by buildup around the ignitor, and even reduce the risk of flare-ups when ash mixes with grease.
Perfect for pellet grills, offset smokers, or any smoker that tends to accumulate hard-to-reach ash.
