The stock PTFE fitting on the Creality SpacePi X4 has a known issue: it tends to work itself loose over time, which can cause extrusion problems or even failed prints.

This custom design addresses that flaw by providing:

  • A tighter, more secure fit to hold the PTFE tube firmly in place.
  • A locking piece that threads from the opposite side, ensuring the fitting stays locked even during frequent filament loading and unloading.

By preventing the PTFE tube from slipping, this upgrade improves reliability and greatly reduces the chance of failed prints caused by extrusion interruptions.

Printing Recommendation

For best performance, print the internal shaft piece in a filament with a low coefficient of friction (such as PA12 or PETG). This helps ensure smooth filament movement and minimizes wear over time.

Usage

  1. Install the main fitting in place of the stock one.
  2. Thread the locking piece from the opposite side to secure the PTFE tube.
  3. Once locked, the fitting should stay firmly in place during normal use, including filament swaps.

This is a simple yet effective fix to a small design flaw that can make a big difference in print quality and consistency.

Note on Removing the Stock Fitting

If you’re wondering how to remove the stock fitting, it usually means yours isn’t loose yet. In that case, you can either keep using it until issues arise, or remove it now by applying firm pressure—it will pop out. A useful trick is to insert a PTFE tube and push it outward from inside the dryer to release the fitting.
