When I was taught fluid mechanics my teacher relied on a computer simulation. This made learning boring and the material harder to learn. By allowing students to manipulate the water themselves it creates laughs and fun while also creating learning moments.
Fluid dynamics can be tough for students to grasp at all levels because of the lengthy equations that are used and because of some tricky assumptions that have to be made. This model focuses on teaching students Bernoulli's equation in a fun way that makes it easy to learn.
The kit also features cubes with different infills/densities. These are perfect for beginner students to learn about density and its relationship with water and buoyancy force.
There are several questions with multiple parts. The questions go from basic (middle school), intermediate (algebra based) to advanced (calculus based).
The big tank is for intermediate students and the smaller tank for advanced students. The change in water level will have a greater affect in the smaller tank which pertains to the more advanced questions. If beginner students use the advanced tank there results will not align with the results they can get with their level of physics. That being said, the bigger tank wont perfectly math their equations either but this is factored into their questions.
To install O-rings simply press them into the ring around the screw. Screw them a hole on the tank to secure it into place. if you need to replace one I would recommend using a thumbtack.
Please print the O rings in a squishy material like TPU, otherwise the seal will not work properly. When testing I experienced no leaking
Do not overtighten the screws. They can be snapped in half if an excessive force is exerted on them, especially the small ones. If they get stuck inside the holes score the top until you create a hole big enough for a flathead screw driver and unscrew.
