Frantic Pandora's Box Playable Insert

Intro

I loved the idea of Robin's original insert, which gives you a ready-to-play experience right out-of-the-box, but it didn't fit my version of Pandora's Box, which is smaller (18cm in both directions internally). I also though some other aspects could be improved, see below.

• Fits the smaller 18cm Box
• Ready-to-play with no setup: you can draw all cards directly from the box!
• Multiple movable dividers: Everyone plays Frantic differently. You can decide which cards go into the main deck and which to leave for which kind of session.
• Simplified card retainer geometry: Less filament use, cards are easier to draw and the whole deck is easier to remove if needed.

This insert also has updated dimensions to fit all currently available expansions, including their instruction booklets if desired:

Printing instructions

Print the testpiece first! Because this insert needs to fit the smaller box, there is no outside perimeter that will hold the card retainer down during printing. As it's a long and thin piece, it can easily detach if your filament of choice is prone to warping. “FranticPandorasBox Testpiece.stl” only takes ~20g of filament but lets you validate that the insert fits your box properly, warping won't be an issue and that all cards fit as desired.

Print the insert and the dividers separately! This reduces the risk of errors on the lower layer caused by switching parts.

If the card retainer warps and detaches slightly, don't stop the print! The geometry is pretty forgiving and this little imperfection will be completely invisible once the insert is in the box.

Remixing tips

This model was made in Autodesk Fusion. The file itself is not a remix of Robin's design, it was easier to just recreate it from scratch. The model is parametrized, so you should be able to change measurements as you see fit without the geometry breaking. It is not possible to make it fit sleeved cards, Pandora's Box is too small for that.
