Tired of dealing with unwanted light and lens flare during your shoots? As a videographer, I often faced this problem with several of my cameras. While matte boxes work well, they’re often an expensive solution, especially when you only need the French flag for basic light-blocking.
That’s why I created a practical, cost-effective alternative—a 3D printable French flag designed to block overhead light and reduce flare. This simple accessory is optimized for shorter lenses, and the total cost of printing and assembling is just around €6-€7, with the red screws being the priciest component.
The design works great, and the files are fully customizable (in Fusion 360) if you need to make adjustments for your own gear.
In order to make it work, you will need a threaded insert M3 and a handscrew to tighten the flag.
