KV-2 nozzle holder

A stylised KV-2 nozzle holder, built around the Ender 3 V3 KE nozzle, but works with any M6 nozzles. It's designed to sit proudly on your desk and keep your most valuable nozzle safe and ready to go.

Features

  • moveable turret
  • moveable/tiltable gun; nozzle snaps in place
  • wheels behind the tracks for movement on soft surfaces (optional)
  • simplified details, specifically made for easy, quality print
  • no supports required, the model comes pre-supported (turret and wheels, use the prepared tabs to pull them off; the support z distance is 0.25mm)
  • printed in parts, made for easy assembly: body, rollers, tracks, gun mount, turret and center pin (connects the body and the turret)
  • no hardware required! The big parts are snap in place, and the rollers are fixed with 2 pieces of filament (2 35mm pieces or 4 smaller ones), that get covered with the 4 pins

Design notes

  • 75x40x35mm, roughly 1:90 scale
  • hex gun socket sized to hold M6 nozzles, designed around the Ender 3 V3 KE nozzle

BEFORE PRINTING!

Print the gun mount, and check how the nozzle fits inside. According to that, scale the rest of the tank. Assuming a well calibrated printer, no scaling should be done.

Print settings

  • material: personal preference (Sunlu PLA+/2.0 , Grey, Black, Olive)
  • layer height: 0.20mm
  • infill: 10% (cubic)
  • walls: 2
  • wall printing sequence: outer-inner (important!)
  • supports: no
  • brim: depending on the 1st layer your printer lays
  • print orientation: print as given
  • tolerances: typical FDM tolerance, slightly looser 0.25mm
  • turret modifier (7mm tall): 40% infill, 4 walls

Assembly

  • print the parts
  • remove the supports by the tabs (turret and wheels - if printed)
  • snap the gun mount into the turret, aligning the ridges with the pins
  • insert the nozzle into the hexagonal hole of the gun mount
  • snap the center pin into the turret and press the assembly into the body
  • insert (straightened) filament pieces thru the rollers and the body, leaving about 2mm on each side
  • push the 4 pins to cover the filament ends
  • press the tracks on the rollers (they have been oriented so there is the possibility of using the bed's texture as the front of the tracks)
