Check out this model's 3D Hexagonal Pyramid Fractal counterpart here!: https://makerworld.com/en/models/915944-snowflake-fractal-level-2-vase-mode#profileId-877394

This 2D version of my Level 2 Sierpiński Snowflake Fractal is a versatile and eye-catching design. Created by cutting a layer from the original 3D fractal and extruding it into a flat pattern, this piece is perfect for a variety of creative uses.

Whether you’re making earrings, medallions for jewelry, tiling patterns, or even a beautiful (but not super effective) coaster, this design is as functional as it is stunning.

*The print in the photo was done with a .2 nozzle on my Bambu Lab P1P. If printing with .4, scale the model up by 2X and it should slice and print perfectly. I'll provide 3MFs for this when I find the time.*

Print Instructions:

  • Slice Gap Closing Radius: Set it to ZERO or this model won't slice properly.
  • Vase Mode: Enable vase mode for a clean, efficient print.
  • Bottom Layers: Set to ZERO to achieve the intricate cutout pattern.
  • Skirt: Use a one- layer skirt to ensure the pattern starts smoothly and without errors.

Note: It’s possible to print this model with the same beautiful line pattern without using vase mode. This is especially useful if you want to scale it up for coasters or other purposes!

To do this:

  1. Turn off vase mode and switch to regular slicing mode.
  2. Set top and bottom shell layers to 0.
  3. Set infill density to 0.
  4. Adjust wall thickness and line width in your slicer to achieve the desired effect.
  5. Set your slice gap closing radius to 0 (unless scaling up, where it may not matter as much).

I should also mention that if you’d like a solid bottom, you can set your bottom layers to however many you want instead of zero. Bonus points if you change your filament after the bottom layers to create a dual-color piece!

Download, print, and let your creativity run wild!
