This project is a manual alignment and stamping jig designed for 3 mm metal letter stamps, allowing clean, straight, and evenly spaced lettering on metal plates.

The jig is fully 3D printed in PLA and works as a guided manual press, ensuring that each letter stamp remains:

  • vertically aligned,
  • evenly positioned,
  • and perpendicular to the work surface.

The system is especially useful for steel (stainless) nameplates, tags, labels, or samples, where free-hand stamping often leads to misalignment or uneven depth.

The stamped steel plate shown in the photos (“MASTER”) is  an example of the achievable result.

Key Features

  • Designed specifically for 3 mm metal letter stamps
  • Linear sliding carriage with rack-guided alignment
  • Square anti-rotation holder for accurate stamp orientation
  • Manual downward force only (hammer or hand press on wood or leather)
  • Optimized for repetitive, clean lettering

No electronics, no calibration, no consumables

How to Use (Important)

  • Place the jig on a very solid, non-flexing surface
→ A heavy steel mass, an anvil, or a thick steel block is mandatory.
❌ Do not use on a desk, wooden table, or any flexible surface.
  • Position the metal plate on the steel backing surface inside the jig.
  • Insert a 3 mm metal letter stamp into the square holder, ensuring it is fully seated and vertical.
  • Slide the carriage to the desired position and hold it firmly.
  • Using a heavy hammer, apply one single, straight, controlled удар (strike) on the stamp.
→ Do not tap multiple times.
→ Do not use light or angled hits.
  • Move the carriage to the next position and repeat for each letter.
