This project is a 3D printed mold designed to create a silicone mold, which can then be used to cast plaster (gypsum) planters or containers.

The final plaster pieces can be used as small vases, decorative containers, or candle holders.

πŸ”§ Assembly & Silicone Casting Instructions

  1. Insert threaded brass bushings

The small holes in the 3D printed parts are designed to accept threaded brass inserts.

Install the inserts and assemble the mold using screws to securely hold all parts together.

  2. Seal the mold

Before pouring the silicone, apply a small amount of masking tape between the base and the side walls to prevent silicone leakage.

  3. Pour the silicone

Once fully assembled and sealed, pour the liquid silicone into the mold.

Allow it to cure completely according to the silicone manufacturer’s instructions.

  4. Remove the 3D printed parts

After curing, carefully disassemble and remove all 3D printed components.

You now have a flexible silicone mold ready for casting.

πŸͺ¨ Plaster Casting & Final Use

  1. Cast plaster (gypsum)

Pour plaster into the silicone mold and let it fully harden.

  2. Demolding

Once dry, remove the plaster piece from the silicone mold.

I personally used the finished plaster forms to create handmade candles, but they are also perfect as:
