READ FIRST — this is a print-in-place model. You MUST pause the print partway through to drop in a nut. If you print it start-to-finish without pausing, there will be no captured nut and the part won't thread onto a tripod. The pause is quick and easy — details below — but don't skip it.
Want to put your **Ring Outdoor Cam Plus** somewhere a wall screw won't go — a tripod, a light stand, a deck-rail clamp, a window mount? This adapter puck gives the camera a standard 1/4"-20 tripod thread while reusing the original Ring base plate that came with your camera, so the camera still clicks on exactly the way Ring designed it. No glue, no modeling the clips, no compromise on fit.
How it works
The printed part is a clean, full-size disc that matches your Ring plate's footprint (≈67 mm) for a wide, stable, no-wobble base on the tripod. Your Ring plate simply screws down onto it using its own four screws, and a captured 1/4"-20 hex nut sits inside for the tripod thread.
The captured-nut trick (this is the good part)
No heat-set inserts, no nut that falls out. You print straight off the bed, and at one short pause you drop a standard hardware-store 1/4"-20 nut into the pocket — the printer then bridges a solid cap right over it, trapping it forever. Cheap, strong, foolproof.

What you need (Bill of Materials)
• Your existing Ring Outdoor Cam Plus base plate (the plate only — you'll reuse it as the camera clip).
• 4× #6 flat-head (countersunk) wood / sheet-metal screws, ~¾″ (19 mm) long (≈ M3.5, ~3.5 mm over the threads). These self-tap into the puck and the heads sit flush in the plate's countersunk holes.
Do NOT use the longer screws from the Ring box — they're too long and poke out the bottom of the puck.
• 1× 1/4″-20 hex machine screw nut— this is the thin standard hex nut (~4.6 mm thick, 7/16″ across flats, ASME B18.6.3), not the thicker "finished" hex nut. Any hardware store carries them — just ask for a "1/4-20 machine screw nut." (A 5.6 mm finished hex nut won't seat in the pocket.)
• Any tripod / mount with a standard 1/4″-20 stud
REQUIRED MID-PRINT PAUSE (print-in-place nut): Add a pause at 6 mm height. At the standard 0.2 mm layer height, that's layer 30. When the print pauses, drop the 1/4″-20 hex machine screw nut flat into the hex pocket, then resume — the printer bridges a solid cap over it and captures it. Set this pause before you slice/print — don't print the whole part first.
Assembly
1. Print, and when it pauses at 6 mm / layer 30, drop in the 1/4″-20 hex machine screw nut. Resume to finish. (Don't skip the pause — there's no way to add the nut after the print completes.)
2. Set your Ring base plate on top of the puck, line up the 4 holes, and drive the **four #6 × ¾″ wood screws** down through the plate into the puck (they self-tap). (Again — not the Ring box screws; those are too long.)
3. Thread the puck onto your tripod's 1/4″-20 stud.
4. Click the camera onto the plate as normal. Aim and go.
