I printed one of Jays Creations @jays_creations Soda Can Openers (https://makerworld.com/en/models/825919) for a family member and they liked it so much they requested a larger version for soup / canned goods. (Thanks Jay for sharing!)
***UPDATE*** A can with a larger tab has been found, checkout the updated model here that accommodates more can tab sizes! https://makerworld.com/en/models/1128026
So here is that remix!
I printed it in Bambu HF-PETG and it worked great. I think most other filaments will also work fine for this.
What Changed:
- Opener “mouth” is larger to accommodate wider tabs found on soup cans and other canned good (like the canned tomatoes in my picture). I also chamfered top edge of opener mouth to slide under tabs easier.
-
You can still open soda cans with it, but since it's wider the smaller soda can tab can slip out more easily.
- Eliminated need for supports by chamfering the underside of the openers overhang edges.
- Moved keychain hole into main body and added a perpendicular hole to allow use with bead or split ring style keychains.
-
This is the beaded metal style keychain I'm using: https://amzn.to/3PDX4YD (affiliate link)
- Added holes for optional embedded magnets which makes it easy to put it on the fridge and keep it handy.
- There is a pause at 4.4mm to insert three 8x3 magnets if you want them. You can purchase them from Maker supply or from Amazon here : https://amzn.to/3WqiUTL (affiliate link)
- Changed texture from lines to hexagons because racecar 😎.
- I've also included a .step file if you want to remix my remix.
