This unique key switch clicker emulates a true spool of silk sewing thread. It has a clicker button on each end. It should be a delight for any quilter or sewist.
For a very real effect, use a wood PLA filament for the “spool”, a fast color change silk filament for the “thread” (such as AMOLEN S Series PLA), and several silk colors for the “key cap”.
Assembly is simple with no glue required:
- slide the “thread” over one end of the “spool” (either end)
- insert the other half of the “spool” into the opposite side of the “thread”
- snap the two halves of the “spool” together inside of the “thread”
- orient each key switch so the retaining tabs match the retaining indents inside of the “spool” and snap the switch into place
- align each rectangular receptacle on the bottom of the “key cap” with the rectangular portion of the key switch and press the cap on.
There are three profile .3MF files:
1.) the “key cap” for each end that is printed with a .2mm nozzle at .10mm layer height
2.) the “thread” that is printed with a .4mm nozzle at a .28mm layer height
3.) The “spool” that is printed with a .4mm nozzle at a .20mm layer height
Be sure to download all three profiles. For the “key cap” I highly recommend cloning the model and printing more than one to reduce purge poop and time per object.
