Table-In-A-Drawer Solution with IKEA ALEX Drawer Unit (IKEA article number 604.735.48).
The table in a drawer solution gives you a mini-table while sitting next to your computer. Practical solution for daily use at your desk. It works great for breakfast/lunch, a cup of coffee or tea, snacks, tools or a notebook. Reducing the clutter around your keyboard and mouse.
Bill-of-Material:
- 4 x M4 25mm screws
- 4 x M4 Threaded Wood Inserts Nuts
- 4 x M4 Washers (1-5mm)
- 4 x Magnets (8mm dim x 2-3mm thick)
- 4 x 525ZZ Bearings (Dimension of bearing see picture at bottom)
- The (painted) wooden table (292mm width, 18-20mm height, ~270mm length) (Note: You have more room to change the length).
- Superglue
- Padding (cut to fit to soften the stops of the tracks, where the bearings touch).
- IKEA ALEX Drawer Unit (article number 604.735.48).
HOW-TO: (Simple instructions)
- Print the .3mf-file (all in one prepared) or each individual part (NB! Read the notes for each part).
- Glue the tracks and the magnet holders to the drawer's side walls.
- Drill holes in the wooden table and insert the threaded wood insert nuts.
- Screw the bearings with the screws, and add a washer between the bearing and the threaded insert nuts.
- Glue the 4 magnets to the sockets (2 x drawer magnet holder and 2 x table magnet clamps). Remember to test the polarity of the magnets.
- Align and glue the table magnet clamps to the wooden table.
- Add padding to the stops of the tracks, where the bearings touches at the ends.
