twist container with a tricky twist lock

After seeing all those pass-through models and wondering if I also should try something, I actually had an idea: a container (well I DO like to design containers, so no wonder…). It does not actually pass through though…

Closing it i simple, but opening it is not that intuitive; several people asked me how to do that, since the only grip you have on the inner part are those exposed twirls in the middle. twist-pull them out with a strong grip while holding the top edge with the other hand. You need a bit of force to overcome the click lock.

Printing:

Print one part in one color and the other part in another color; PLA is fine, I used a 0.4mm nozzle, no supports needed. I recommend using different layer heights for inner and outer part to make sliding in and out less scratchy.

There is a bit of overhang which lets some strands of misplaced filament get in the way of the inner part sliding in, so when you first try to insert the inner part and it gets stuck, try quite some force (i.e. punch it in) to get that stuff out of the way.

While not required, I like to switch filament for the inner part at 1.2mm height, so the bottom has the same color as the outer part, which gives a more homogeneous look on the bottom, see 3rd photo. This does not need an AMS, a manual filament switch will do.
