Whammy Bar Base - (Wii Les Paul / Guitar Hero)

Drop-in replacement whammy bar base for Wii Les Paul guitars, in both left- and right-handed configurations. Matches the original design as closely as possible.

Printing

• While PLA can probably be made to work, I recommend printing the base using a stronger material like PETG. My PLA builds broke rather easily during testing.
   
• Using OrcaSlicer on a Bambu Lab X1C, I found printing with auto-orientation and auto-supports resulted in significant scarring on the exposed side of the base. To prevent this from happening, orient the base upright, with the larger travel stop facing downward. With supports added under the exterior overhangs, everything should come out nicely. For more details, see the included picture and screenshot.
   
• On my most recent print, I used the following settings:
  
  
  • Preset: 0.2mm Strength
  • Sparse infill pattern: Gyroid
  • Wall generator: Arachne
  • Support type: Normal (manual)
  • Support style: Snug
  • Raft layers: 2 (to reduce scarring on the surface touching the build plate)
     

Retaining clip

If your original retaining clip for the whammy bar is no longer usable, search for an assorted e-clip kit. Here are a couple I've had success with: 
 

• NEIKO 50455A E-Clip Assortment Set (1/8" size, squeezed down with pliers)
   
• MARTEK 304 Stainless Steel E Clip Assortment Kit (2.5mm size, tighter fit, harder to get on)
