Ender 3 S1 Upgrade – Ender 3 V3 KE High-Flow Hotend & Custom Fan Shroud
I recently upgraded my Ender 3 S1 with the Ender 3 V3 KE ceramic high-flow hotend, which turns out to be a 1:1 direct replacement. The only modification needed is soldering the thermistor wire to the toolhead board, as the plug doesn’t fit.
To improve cooling, I designed a fan shroud for a 4020 radial fan, since the stock shroud sits too high after the upgrade. The design requires supports and isn’t fully optimized yet, but it works well. I recommend printing it in PETG for durability.
Performance & Klipper Recommendation
- Tested with Klipper, reaching speeds of 200+ mm/s.
- At ~250 mm/s, the Sprite extruder starts skipping steps.
- Klipper is highly recommended to get the most out of this upgrade.
Additional Notes
- CR-Touch Adjustment: Needs to be lowered by 8.75–9 mm. I used 5mm M3 standoffs + washers.
- OrcaSlicer Profile Available for easy setup.
⚠ Credit Note: The fan shroud is based on an existing design—if you're the original creator, please reach out so I can credit you!
Its an open source project so fell free to upgrade it further!
