Step-by-Step Instructions
- These instructions are also located on Plate 5 of the 3MF file for easy follow.
1. Select Your Fonts
- Letter Font: News706BT (Can be changed to any font).
- Name Font: Brush Script MT (Can be changed to any font—see "Boldness" note below).
2. Setup the Working Plate (Two Methods)
-
Option A (Easy):
1. Go to Plate 3. Select the Letter and Name objects and use "Edit Text" to change them. Do not change the size or settings.
2. Go to Plate 4. Edit the Name to match Plate 3 exactly. Do not change the size or settings.
3. Slice and print both plates. If you chose this option, ignore all remaining instructions.
- Option B (Advanced Customization): 1. Copy your desired letter and name to Plate 3.
- 2. Use "Edit Text" to change the name/letter and adjust the type, size, and position until the name sits perfectly across the letter.
3. Prepare the Inlay (Plate 4)
- Copy your finalized name from Plate 3 to Plate 4.
- IMPORTANT: Rotate it 180° (upside down) on the plate. Printing face-down ensures a perfect surface finish and better fit.
- Slice and print Plate 4.
4. Finalize the Base (Plate 3)
- On Plate 3, select the name, go to Edit Text > Advanced, and increase the Boldness by 250 more than the name on Plate 4.
- Example: If Plate 4 is 600 boldness, set Plate 3 to 850. This creates the necessary clearance.
- Select both the name and the letter, right-click, and choose Assemble.
- Select only the name and set the Z-position to 26mm.
- Right-click the name, select Change Type, and set it to Negative Part.
- Slice and print Plate 3.
Printing Tips
- Texture: I recommend using a Textured PEI plate for Plate 4 to give the name a high-end look.
- Tolerance: The +250 boldness on the Negative Part is vital; without it, the plastic expansion may make the inlay too tight to fit!
