Dovetail Jaw PITTSBURGH 6 in. Ratcheting Bar Clamp

Replacement for the upper jaw of the PITTSBURGH 6 in. Ratcheting Bar Clamp/Spreader to allowed it to be used in the same 14 deg dovetails as the other parts. When printed from standard PLA allows for medium pressure clamping in the dovetail slots and if over tightened has consistently failed gracefully without the detonation seen in some other materials.

Requires a bolt, nut, and two washers. I have tried various sizes and they make little difference to usability, so I make no specific suggestions.

In order to install the part

• Remove upper jaw by unscrewing the large dial, like if you were going to change it from a clamp to a spreader
• Use a hammer and cylindrical object (like a Philips head screwdriver) to remove jaw stop by hitting it through the bar. Warning: After doing this be careful to never slide the head over the end of the rail or you will have to reassemble the clamp head.
• Place the new clamp head on the bar and attach with bolt, washer through the bar capped with another washer, nut combo.
• Make sure you tighten the bolt well. I have never damaged one by bearing down with a standard Alen Wrench but lack of tightness will cause premature failure.

While not the most robust clamp it is extremely useful to be able to change a boatload of cheap clamps into dovetail clamps when needed.
