This model is my own take on the classic spool holder, using a geometry that uses very little material while maximizing strength. For this reason I strongly recommend printing the design in PETG or ASA (not PLA).
I also wanted to make it look and use more professional by using non-3D printed parts. Specifically, I used 4 608RS ball bearings and a 16 mm diameter aluminum tube that I cut to the size of 76 mm, but if desired it can be cut to any length using multiple slots of the skadis panel.
Assembly is pretty easy, once you cut the aluminum tube to size just insert the bearing cap into both ends of the tube, repeat twice. Insert the ball bearings into their seats in the arms of the spool holder. Just then insert the aluminum tubes with the caps into the bearings. To prevent them from spinning out of their seats, I made small cotter pins out of aluminum wire, but it is just as well to use safety pins.
I hope you apreciate!
