The folding phone stands I tried never really worked for me. It was the hinge; it was in the wrong place. By moving it to the middle it becomes a very stable X base. I searched the 3D printing sites but didn't see this design so came up with my own.
It opens to 60 degrees with 10mm slots set at 64 & 74 degrees. The slots were cut into the design with the model in the open position so the phone fits perfect. Scaled +20% it holds an iPad solid.
11 grams. Tried with PLA, PLA-CF and PETG-CF. They all work fine but the bridge layer using -CF is what you would expect. I'm hoping someone with more talent than me will offer up a better print profile and make a pretty bridge.
Use an exacto knife with a thin pointy blade to gently split the bridge on the bottom about 3mm from the edge. With the blade still in the model, push the back of the blade all the way to the hinge, Repeat on the other end. Note that I broke a few blades starting out, so gloves and eye protection are highly recommended.
