I built a handheld using a Pi Zero 2W in a GBA SP shell. The standard GBA SP sized battery(800mah) I was using had pretty bad battery life, so I added a rear expansion to accommodate a 2500mAh LiPo battery. It does increase the thickness but I think it improves the overall ergonomics. My battery dimensions are 7.5mm,50mm,60mm but there is definitely room in the model to make that bigger.
