This model is a colourful, 3D-printable hibiscus flower anatomy teaching aid, designed to make primary school biology hands-on, visual, and easy to understand.

 

Created as an educational classroom tool, this first release captures the clear proportions and simplified structures of a hibiscus flower, presented in an accessible layered format that helps young learners identify and understand the main parts of a flower.

 

The model clearly highlights: PETALS, STAMEN, PISTIL, OVARY, SEPALS

 

Each structure is colour-separated to support visual learning and classroom explanation.

Designer Notes

This is the initial release of the hibiscus anatomy model and was deliberately designed as a solid, layered educational display rather than a fully detachable or interactive system.

 

Why a fixed-layer design?

  • Keeps the model strong and classroom-proof
  • Prints reliably on almost any FDM printer
  • No fragile connectors or small parts
  • Minimal post-processing required
  • Optimised for clean multi-colour printing

 

The goal of this first version was to:

  • Create a model that primary learners can easily understand
  • Emphasise the core anatomical structures clearly
  • Ensure smooth surface quality at 0.12 mm layer height
  • Deliver a print that works beautifully in PLA

 

Printed in PLA at 0.12 mm layer height, the petals achieve a smooth finish while preserving crisp internal definition in the ovary and reproductive structures.

Future Plans

A more advanced version is already on the roadmap. This may include:

  • Detachable anatomical layers
  • Magnetic or snap-fit components
  • Larger classroom-scale version
  • Labelled base plate option
