Impossible Passthrough Pawn (Optical Illusion)
Description
This is a classic "Impossible Passthrough" optical illusion featuring a chess pawn. The model consists of two parts that appear to pass through each other at an impossible angle, creating a mind-bending visual effect. It’s a perfect desk toy, fidget, or a gift for chess enthusiasts.
The tolerances are tuned to be tight but smooth, ensuring the illusion works perfectly without too much wiggle room.
Print Settings
- Material: PLA (White, Black, or Silk filaments look best!)
- Layer Height: 0.16mm or 0.2mm (lower layer height makes the sliding smoother).
- Walls: 2 wall loops
- Infill: 15% (Grid or Gyroid).
- Supports: NO SUPPORTS NEEDED. Both parts are designed to be printed flat on the bed.
- Brim: Recommended if you have bed adhesion issues, as the contact area is relatively small.
Tips for Success
- Calibration: Ensure your Flow Rate and Pressure Advance are calibrated for a smooth fit.
- Post-processing: If the fit is a bit too moving the parts back and forth a few times will make the action buttery smooth.
- Filament: Dual-color or "Silk" filaments enhance the "impossible" look by highlighting the shifting reflections.
