Improved Insect Water Station (parametric)

Added a slope to the hexagons, improved the connection between the bottle connector and base and changed the door design to improve print quality. A smaller version of the model was also made available, as were increased height variants.

Summary:

An improved version of my water station with a standard bottle as reservoir for all sorts of insects/arachnids/... .

Model Description:

The model allows for the insects/arachnids/… to stand onto little pads and to drink the water that flows through the channels around them. The water comes from a bottle reservoir that automatically replenished the channels, just fill the bottle and screw it upside down before flipping it 180° where you want the station to be. The pressure may vary depending on how much you screw the bottle, the size of the bottle, the levelness of everything, … so you might need to fiddle to make everything work. Don't forget to remove the whole cap (including the plastic ring at the bottom) before screwing the bottle onto the model!

The fusion file is provided would you want to adjust the parameters, see how it's done or simply edit the model easily.

There are 2 sizes to choose from, print the smaller one as a test if you are unsure. For each size, there is also an increased height variant which can help if you are experiencing execessive water flowing onto the pads (most shouldn't need these variants).

Printing Information:

• Since this model will be exposed to the elements and will contain water you should use a non porous, uv resistant filaments like PETG or ASA. I recommend PETG as it is safer (similar to PET bottles plastic).
• To avoid poisoning the insects, you should also thoroughly clean the model to remove any contaminants leftover from the 3dprinting process. You also can use a food-safe resin to coat the model for optimal protection.
