I designed this toy padlock for my little daughter. It should work with any standard key, or anything else that will fit.
You will need a spring that is about 17 mm by 6 mm for the lock to operate. You can also stick a pen spring in the bottom of the latching piece so that it springs up when the lock is turned.
I designed this lock for my kids because they wanted to play with locks, but they could never remember the correct key orientation or which key to use. This lock allows them to use any key, regardless of the orientation or the direction they approach the lock from.
This lock will need to be glued in place. Just be sure to keep the glue from any of the moving mechanisms. See profile picture for piece placement If you have any issue with tolerance, scale it up or down a little bit
