Yes, there are many many hooks already available. I just liked this shape and wanted to make another one.
The model includes a recess in the back to accommodate one pair of large command strips (the picture hanging kind). One pair of large command strips is rated for at least 4 pounds (1.8 kg). This should be more than enough for coats, hats, etc.
Holes are also provided for screws, if you prefer to use them.
Any rigid filament should work. There are no moving parts.
