🧵 Introduction

This decorative lamp shaped like a spool wrapped with rope combines modern 3D printing with a rustic look. The model is designed to be easy to print, stable, and compatible with a standard E14 socket. I used a 200 lm LED bulb, but you can choose another light source – for example, an LED strip.

The model consists of five parts:

  • lampshade
  • upper spool
  • lower spool
  • middle rope section
  • bulb holder

All dimensions can be found in the drawing below.

🖨 Printing the individual parts

1) Lampshade

  • This is a model of a solid cylinder (you adjust the wall thickness by printing).
  • Print as a vase mode.
  • Without top and bottom layers.
  • A thin wall creates a beautiful light diffusion.

2) Upper and lower spool

  • On the parts imitating rope, set fuzzy skin to give the surface a more realistic texture.
  • I recommend two-color printing – filament change at the layer works great.
  • Print with small support where the rope rises.

3) Middle rope section

  • Print with a wide brim for better adhesion.
  • Add support under the overhanging part to prevent print breakage.

4) Bulb holder

  • Regular print without special settings.
  • Holes are prepared for M3x10 screws.

🔧 Assembly

  1. Insert the power supply with the E14 socket into the bottom part.
  2. Screw the holder onto the socket and secure it with an anti-rotation ring.
  3. Screw the holder to the bottom part using M3x10 screws.
  4. Insert the LED bulb.
  5. Put on the lampshade.
  6. Add the middle rope section – pins should fit freely. If you want a firmer connection, you can glue it (beware of bulb replacement possibility).
  7. Finally, put on the upper spool, which fixes everything.
    • In my print, nothing is glued, and it holds firmly.

Photo documentation of the assembly is below.
