I really like these boxes with the cutouts. My only problem was that every model I found they are printed in 1 piece making it hard for the 3D printer to make all of these retractions of filament for the cutouts. Therefore I designed this box that is split in 3 different pieces and can be snap-fit together without glue. You can print each part flat on the printbed using no supports.

100% scale fits perfectly on the 256x256 mm bed while around 70% scale fits great on the A1 mini. I've printed all the way down to 60% scale but I don't recommend going much further than that. At 70% and below there is no reason the use anything else than 100% infill like I did on my print profiles.

The box is a great compromise between sturdiness and filament use. It is very solid while at the same time not using too much filament because of the cutouts and the rather thin walls (Enforced in the corners)

The box should be assembled in the following way:

  • Push the bottom of the "short side" part into its groove on the bottom part (All of the completely flat sides should point inward in the box).
  • Lay the "short side" flat on a table making the “bottom part” stick up at 90 degrees. Now push it into place. Do this with both of the short sides.
  • Slide the “long side” part between the two "short side" parts making sure that the groove lines up both all the way along the edge and the split at the top. Once these are in place you can slide in the 3 cutouts at the bottom of the “long side” part.

Let me know if I should make a guide with pictures. It's pretty hard to describe in words.
