Wall mounted chessboard

As a chess player who works from home, I spend a large chunk of my day following ongoing matches and analyzing positions. While digital boards are great, there is something special about moving physical pieces. feeling the game and touching the board rather than just staring at a screen.

However, I quickly ran into a problem: traditional chessboards are space hogs. I wanted that tactile, physical experience, but I didn't want a standard, bulky board taking up my already limited desk space or looking too common.

I realized I needed something specific:

• Fully Functional: It had to be a real, playable board where I could track games or play at my own pace.
• Space-Saving: It needed to stay completely out of the way of my daily workflow.
• Artistic: I wanted it to look like a modern piece of art, not just a game shoved to the side.

So, I decided to build it myself. Here is the result.

Assembly Guide

• Color Selection: Pay close attention to your wall color when choosing the filament for your board. Because every other square is an empty frame, your wall essentially becomes half of the board!
• Printing the Pieces: Print the chess pieces twice in the two colors of your choice. Make sure the colors you pick contrast well so they don't blend into the board or the wall behind it.
• Board Alignment: The board is printed in four sections. When arranging them, make sure the outer edges of the final board are smooth and have no holes. The holes are specifically designed to face inward to connect the four sections together.
• Connecting & Mounting: Secure the board sections together using the adhesive of your choice. Double-sided tape or any normal construction adhesive works perfectly.
• The Golden Rule: Promise me, as a fellow chess player, that you will never mount the board with a dark square in the bottom right corner. White on right, always! :)
